Spring 2012 AGM and General Elections

UBC Persian Club is pleased to announce that its Spring Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Elections will take place on April 4th, 2012.

Come listen to your 2011-2012 executives giving their reports about last year’s developments and achievements of the club and ask them about your concerns during their term in office.

Additionally, UBCPC members can run for and elect the 2012-2013 executive team during the elections. If you are a UBC Persian Club member and would like to run for executive position for the upcoming year, you can nominate yourself until Monday, April 2nd, 2012 at midnight; or otherwise during the AGM and on the floor. Executive positions as of now, are:

  1. President
  2. Vice-President Internal
  3. Vice-President External
  4. Vice-President Finance

However, the executive committee is proposing changes to the constitution that would change the executive committee positions as follows:

  1. President
  2. Vice-President Administration
  3. Vice-President External
  4. Vice-President Finance
  5. Vice-President Academic and Culture

If the proposed constitution passes in the General Meeting, members can also nominate themselves for the new executive positions.

If you would like to run for executive positions, you can also provide us with a brief description about yourself to be put on this page.

To officially welcome everyone, we’ll also be serving Bastani (Ice cream) in our AGM!

What exactly is AGM?
Annual General Meeting (or AGM for short) is a club-wide meeting in which members are informed of club’s activities and decide for the future of the club. Big decisions, such as changes in the strategic plan, modifying the constitution or electing new executives for unfilled positions are done in the AGM.

Why should I care?
As a UBCPC club member, you have the right to cast your opinions through speaking out about your ideas and concerns, electing your executives or getting elected as an executive. AGM is the place where all of this happens! So, if you care about your club, you definitely want to attend this meeting.

The Agenda for the General Meeting can be found here: Agenda-AGM2012

Nomination Process:

Please send us an email at elections@ubcpc.com if you would like to nominate yourself for any of the executive positions. In the email please include:

  • Your name
  • Position(s) you want to run for
  • Optional: A brief description of yourself and your platform to be put on our website

Alternatively, UBC Persian Club members can nominate themselves for any executive positions before the elections and on the floor.
