Norouz 1391 Celebration at UBC!

Norouz is just around the corner and there are many cool events happing around UBC campus as part of our Norouz 1391 Celebration series. Check out the events, mark your calendars, invite your friends and get ready for an AWESOME Norouz!

    • Norouz Photo Contest
      We are hosting a photography competition with the theme of “Norouz.”
      You may enter the contest by posting your photo(s) on the wall of the event for everyone to see, and email the high quality version to us at Please note that you may have up to 5 enteries in the competition, but only one of them can win!
      We are offering a $300 cash prize for the winner and $150 for the runner-up. The awards ceremoney will take place during our Persian Poetry Night on March 28th. This contest is open to all UBC students and alumni.



    • Main Norouz Festival (day-long event)
      When: Monday, March 19th from 11 am to 4 pm
      Where: Student Union Building (SUB)
      Inside the SUB, there will be artworks (thanks to Mr. Mostadam) and calligraphy (thanks to Mr. Karimayi). Some members of the Persian Music Ensemble will also perform.
      Just outside the SUB (on the North side), join us for some PERSIAN FOOD!!
      * Please also note that the artworks and calligraphy will also be displayed at Kaiser building on March 21st.



  • Movie Screening – Tehran, Tehran (طهران-تهران)
    When: Thursday, March 22th at 6pm
    Where: Wesbrook 100
    Tickets are $5 (free for UBC Persian Club members) and can be reserved here.


  • Persian Pit Night
    When: Thursday, March 22th at 8pm
    Where: Pit Pub
    Tickets are $7 ($5 for the first 30 people) and can be reserved here.

  • Persian Poetry Night
    When: Wednesday, March 28th at 6pm
    Where: Wesbrook 100
    Wanna perform? Fill out the form! If you have a piece of poetry, music or performance to share with everyone, let everyone enjoy it!

  • Nature Day Picnic (Sizdah Be-dar) SOLD OUT!
    When: Sunday, April 1st
    Where: Wesbrook 100
    This year, we’re taking a bus from UBC, going to the beautiful Whytecliff Park near Horseshoe bay. We will leave UBC at 9:30 am and spend the whole day at the park, dancing to Persian music and playing games. Lunch (Joujeh kabab) will be provided but we ask that you bring some snacks to share with everyone! Tickets are $20 for students (student tickets are now sold out!) and $25 for the general public
